Changing the Trend Micro CSM Suite password
July 26th 2008
I’ve been a fan of Trend Micro’s Client Server Messaging Suite for some time now and have it installed at most, if not all, of my client’s offices. They’ve recently upgraded and renamed the system to Worry-Free Business Security. This package contains upgraded client applications which help block malicious web-sites.
I recently picked up a new client in Dallas that has been using the CSM suite for a few years now, but had not had the license renewed in some time. No-one had the password for the Security Dashboard where I could check the status of the installed software. I was left to find a way to reset the password.
Follow the simple instructions below to change it.
To reset the password:
- Go to the <installed drive>\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security server\PCCSRV\Private directory.
- Find and open the ofcserver.ini file using your favorite text editor.
- Look for the MasterPwd= parameter under the [INI_SERVER_SECTION] section.
- Replace the MasterPwd= value with 70 (The existing password is encrypted) .
- Save and close the ofcserver.ini file.
- Go to Services in the Windows Control Panel and Restart TM Security server Master Service.
- Log into the Security dashboard and type 1 as the password
Voila. You can now log in.
